Culture and History

The Circuit patrimoine de Montauroux leads through the old town centre, from the oldest to the most recent area. Along the way, it passes fountains, washhouses, watering troughs, a covered canal and an aqueduct abutment. The walk begins at a free car park on Place du Clos or Place de la Fontaine and can be undertaken every day throughout the year.

The Pont des Tuves was built in 1802 and restored in 1978. It is 20 metres long, 7 metres high beneath the arch and has a 1.70-metre-wide footpath.

After the demolition of the castrum, the Chapelle Saint-Barthélemy was restored and extended between 1634 and 1639. Its interior decoration is classified as a historic monument. The side chapels of the Saint-Barthélemy parish church house altarpieces signed by Van Loo.

The Chapelle Saint-Michel features a Romanesque apse vault in the form of a half-dome. It was restored in 2010 by the association for the preservation of Montauroux's heritage.

A guided tour of the Chapelle Saint-Barthélemy is offered on Tuesday afternoons by prior reservation; the reservation must be made by 12 noon at the latest on the previous day.
