The rebuilt village of Les Salles-sur-Verdon is situated on a small hill overlooking Lac de Sainte-Croix. The history of the village is closely linked to the creation of the lake: the former village of Les Salles-sur-Verdon was destroyed in the 1970s so that Lac de Sainte-Croix could be filled.

The municipal water sports centre in Les Salles-sur-Verdon offers supervised water sports activities on Lac de Sainte-Croix. At the centre, Club Loisirs offers children and adults nine two-hour sessions with a qualified instructor. At Margaridon Beach, pedal boats, canoes or kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, windsurf boards with foils and wingsurfing equipment are available for hire.
Margaridon Beach is located below the village of Les Salles-sur-Verdon. It has facilities and shade and borders a green area. There is a supervised swimming area there; the lifeguard station is open in July and August. The Margaridon boat launch is open year-round and is intended exclusively for launching boats; there are no time restrictions.
Nature and Trails
The Sentier naturaliste de Toine runs along the lake and offers impressive panoramas. The trail around the village also passes through an unspoilt natural environment.
History and Culture
The “Un site, une histoire” exhibition traces the creation of Lac de Sainte-Croix and the history of the village through photographs. The present-day Église Sainte-Anne was rebuilt higher up in a modern style after the former church was destroyed in the 1970s.
