Le Castellet: holiday apartments and houses

In the historic village of Le Castellet, access is limited to two fortified gates. The Château du Castellet manor house was built in the 15th century.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Sauveur de la Transfiguration was built by the Diocese of Marseille in 1030. In 1938, Marcel Pagnol chose Le Castellet as a filming location for “The Baker’s Wife”.

Village and local produce

The tourist office organises free guided tours of the village of Le Castellet for groups of four or more; reservations at 04 94 32 79 13 are required.

The Le Castellet market bears the “Marché de Producteurs de Pays” label. It is intended to guarantee that the products offered there come directly from the producers, without intermediaries.

Wine and landscape

The Ray-Jane eco-museum opens the doors of the Domaine Ray-Jane winery and museum to visitors. It houses more than 30,000 tools, including cooperage and viticulture tools.

Below Le Castellet, vineyards and olive groves stretch as far as the eye can see.

Nature and trails

The path near Sainte-Anne known as the “Chemin des oratoires” offers a walk through the landscape between vineyards.

Routes and motorsport

The Circuit Paul Ricard was inaugurated on 17 April 1970; construction work had begun in 1969 and lasted 300 days.

A selection of 11 gravel cycling routes between the sea and the vineyards includes Bandol, La Cadière d’Azur, Le Castellet, Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer and Sanary-sur-Mer.
