La Seyne-sur-Mer features a coastal landscape with sheltered coves, extensive natural areas and distinctive historic sites. Nature and Coast
The Cap Sicié massif has numerous hiking trails. A 10 km-long coastal path also runs along Cap Sicié between La Lèque in Six-Fours and Fabrégas in La Seyne-sur-Mer.
The Domaine de Fabrégas in La Seyne-sur-Mer covers 73 ha and has belonged to the Conservatoire du littoral since March 2011. The Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée manages the area and is responsible for its maintenance, safety and visitor services; designated paths lead through protected natural areas. The Bastide Pélicot and former oil and grain mills have been preserved from the Domaine de Fabrégas's agricultural past.
The hamlet of Les Sablettes was rebuilt between 1950 and 1953 by Fernand Pouillon and offers views of Cap Sicié and the rocks of Les Deux Frères. In summer, activities such as scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking and light sailing are offered at Les Sablettes Beach.
Culture and History
The Pont-levant was designed in 1914 and built from 1915 to 1917 for the Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée. It has been protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 3 November 1987. Today, the Pont-levant is a viewpoint offering panoramic views.
Fort Napoléon is a square, bastioned and fully casemated fort with a central courtyard. The courtyard of honour serves as a venue for performances. The fort also has two exhibition rooms for contemporary art. It was built from 1812 to 1821.
Fort Balaguier can be visited independently or as part of a guided tour. Since 1970, it has housed a naval museum with exhibitions on local maritime history, Toulon Prison and the galley slaves. The museum also offers an immersive visit to the wreck of the Arroyo using a virtual reality headset, providing impressions of the deep sea and its biodiversity.
Local Offerings
The Provençal market in La Seyne-sur-Mer offers local produce such as goat's and sheep's cheese, cured meats, honey, olives, tapenade, wines and spices. It takes place every morning from Tuesday to Sunday.
