Culture and History
The route “Les châteaux de l'ouest Haut-Var - Circuit 02” passes the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Revest and reaches Esparron-de-Pallières. The chapel is a Provençal Romanesque building dating from the 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1926. The grounds surrounding it, with their centuries-old oak trees, have been listed as a protected historic site since 1934.
The Saint-Jacques church was abandoned in the 17th century when the new Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church was built between 1605 and 1625. Charles d'Arcussia, Esparron's feudal lord in the 17th century, wrote a treatise on falconry that is known worldwide.
