Trails

The Boucle de Notre Dame des Anges is a 20.60-kilometre circular route with 640 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 360 minutes. It begins at the Stade car park at the eastern entrance to Collobrières and follows the GR90 towards Notre Dame des Anges. From Collobrières, the route leads to the Chapelle Notre Dame des Anges and offers views of the Presqu'île de Giens, the Îles d'Or and the rade de Toulon.

The Sentier de découverte begins at the Stade car park and leads through the typical lanes of Collobrières to the ruins of the Saint-Pons church. It also leads to a ruined mill with views of the Vallon de la Malière and the Gouffre du Desteou.

The Menhirs du Plateau Lambert can be reached on foot from the village of Collobrières via the GR90.

History and culture

The Chartreuse de la Verne was founded in 1170 on the ruins of an earlier priory. Part of the monastery is open to visitors; there, they can visit the gatehouse, the bakery, a monk's cell and the 12th-century Romanesque church. The Chartreuse de la Verne can be reached via the narrow, winding Route de la Verne; from the free car park at the end of the road, an approximately 700-metre-long, level dirt path leads to the site.

The Saint-Pons church was built in the 15th century on the site of a fortified chapel dating from the 12th century. An orientation panel on the site of its ruins provides a panorama of Collobrières and the surrounding area. The ruins of the Saint-Pons church are now listed in the supplementary inventory of France's historic monuments.

The Menhirs du Plateau Lambert are monolithic blocks carved from a local gneiss deposit, with heights of 3.15 metres and 2.82 metres respectively; they are dated to the period from the end of the Neolithic to the Bronze Age. The two menhirs are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments and are considered the two largest known megaliths of their kind in Provence.

Local attractions

The Musée de la fabrique du marron glacé presents the culture and production of products made from sweet chestnuts and chestnuts. It houses historic tools and machines that were used to process chestnuts into confectionery over several decades.

The Atelier-boutique Ferme du Lambert in Collobrières has a creative area for workshops in felting, knitting, spinning and weaving, where visitors can learn about these traditional crafts.

Events

The Fêtes de la Châtaigne take place in Collobrières every year in autumn during the chestnut harvest, on three festive Sundays. They showcase local producers, craftspeople, traditional skills and tastings of regional specialities.

The Rando'laine takes place twice a year, once in autumn and once in spring; it is also available by reservation for groups of 10 or more.
