Nature and landscape
The Gorges du Blavet are carved into red volcanic rock. This landscape is home to the prehistoric Grotte du Muéron, which was inhabited in 10,000 BC.
Culture and history
The Bagnols-en-Forêt area is home to three significant millstone sites; the most easily accessible is the La Forteresse site. It yielded millstones made of amaranth-coloured rhyolite from the Estérel, with diameters of 90 to 160 cm and thicknesses of 15 to 50 cm, intended for regional oil and grain mills.
The Église Paroissiale de St Antonin was built between 1704 and 1707 on the site of an earlier chapel dedicated to St Antonin. The Chapelle Saint-Denis preserves old frescoes depicting the history of the Bagnols-en-Forêt community and the figure of Saint-Domnin.

CAREX Roc-Art showcases the diversity of rock art across five continents over the past 50,000 years and invites visitors to contribute to a shared, living work themselves. The CAREX Labyrinth of Evolution is laid out in natural vegetation and transports visitors seven million years back in time, into the role of Pierolapithecus, a common ancestor of humans and several great apes living today.
