Culture and History

The Tour de l'Horloge clock tower was initially built in the 16th century as a watchtower to protect the village and later served as a prison. Its bell tower contains a sundial dating from 1760 and a bell cast in 1712.

The Collegiate Church of Saint Pancrace houses a museum of religious art featuring Provence's oldest processional cross, dating from the 14th century. The church was built outside the town walls by the architect Broulhoni between 1489 and 1503 in the Provençal Gothic style, with a Renaissance façade, replacing the village church, which had become too small.

In Aups, the statue of Our Lady of Deliverance is carried in a procession through the village streets every year on the night of 15 August.

The Musée Simon Segal brings together three schools of painting from Toulon, Bourges and Paris, with more than 280 paintings, including 58 works by the painter Simon Ségal. The Musée de la Résistance covers both the history of the local resistance and the broader history of the French Resistance.

The Tour et remparts watchtower was part of the second surrounding wall of the Blacas castle. Place Louis Gauthier was the former marketplace from the 15th century onwards.

The Sentier des grottes trail passes beneath the Chapelle de la Trinité, reaches the first caves of Aups and continues to the Chapelle Sainte-Madeleine, located in a cave.

In Aups, La Corditelle offers guided adventure or introductory climbing sessions at natural climbing sites.

The Maison de la Truffe offers information and events focusing on truffles and regional products.

A weekly market offers black winter truffles of the species Tuber melanosporum. Sales to private individuals by the Syndicat des trufficulteurs du Var take place on Thursday mornings from the last Thursday in November until the end of February, or, if production is sufficient, until mid-March.
