Activities
The Montgenèvre Bike Park extends from an altitude of 2,450 m to 1,860 m and includes eight permanent downhill tracks, three play areas and two freeride areas. It also features eleven mountain bike trails, four enduro trails, eleven downhill trails, a beginners’ area, a pump track and a Big Air Bag.
The Luge Monty Express starts at the Chalvet gondola lift and follows a 1,400 m-long route with a vertical drop of 300 m through fir trees, over bridges and through tunnels. The Golf International de Montgenèvre is located at the first hole within the resort and at the foot of the ski slopes.
The Sentier Géologique du Chenaillet is a 14 km circular hike with its highest point at 2,650 m and 905 m of ascent. It passes oceanic rocks that are more than 155 million years old. At Collet vert, the trail features an impressive collection of lava pillows, which can be viewed up close from a wooden platform.
La transfrontalière is a 6 km circular hike lasting approximately 2 hours, with 200 m of ascent. The hike passes through the forest from Montgenèvre to the Italian village of Clavière.
Nature and Water
There are car parks, public toilets and a picnic area along the hike to the source of the Durance. The hike can be accessed via two paths; one follows the Durance through the forest to marshy meadows where the Durance rises at an altitude of around 2,200 m.
Lac Gignoux is also called Lago dei Sette Colori, “Lake of the Seven Colours”, because its water appears blue or green depending on the light.

Culture and History
The Fort Chaberton complex, including its access route to the summit, has been listed as a historic monument in France since 4 February 2021. Fort Chaberton overlooks Montgenèvre and the crossing into Italy.
Fort du Janus was built between 1886 and 1903 on the 2,529 m-high summit of Janus. It has a 900 m-long underground extension that extends the Maginot Line and was added between 1931 and 1937. Fort du Janus bears the “Patrimoine du XXème siècle” label in the PACA region.
Guided tours of the Barrage Rapide are organised in Montgenèvre. The Barrage Rapide is a former military structure that was intended to prevent enemy troops from advancing towards Briançon during the Second World War.
