Culture and history
The Portail Saint Michel is a 14th-century gateway with a pointed arch topped by a rounded arch added in the 15th century. It is the only surviving one of the village’s three medieval gates and provided access to the Saint-Michel priory on the opposite bank of the Chauranne stream.
The Temple du Villard was built in 1851 and is the largest temple in the Hautes-Alpes département. Château d'Agoult has a tower whose ground floor consists of large, carefully laid stone blocks; the corners are faced with rusticated ashlar blocks and pierced with simple loopholes.
A memorial at the Col du Monument commemorates young members of the Resistance who were killed by German troops in 1944. A GR trail leads from the Col du Monument to the commune of Montbrand.
In the wider area around La Beaume are the historic Abbaye de Valcroissant site and the Église Saint-Julien church.
Nature and hiking
The nearby surroundings of La Beaume include the Montagne d'Aureille peak, the Banne peak, the Sommet de Laup peak and the Montagne l'Archier mountain.
The red-marked N°8 «Cascade de la Beaume» hike starts at the car park in the village of La Beaume, next to the motorhome parking area, and is 8 km long.

The Marché gourmand de La Beaume is a market of local producers with food served on site.
