Chabottes stretches across the Drac valley floor and the adjacent slopes.
Those who choose Chabottes as a destination want to rent a holiday apartment and discover the landscape along the Drac as well as the local cultural monuments.
Nature
The braided riverbed of the Drac is lined with riparian forest. A lateral moraine left behind by the former Drac Glacier is now largely forested.
The habitats in Chabottes, less affected by development and overly intensive agriculture, are home to 300 plant species, more than 120 bird species and 30 mammal species.
Culture and History
The parish church of the Nativité in Les Estèves in La Basse-Plaine was built between 1853 and 1855. The parish church of the Assomption in Chabottes Village was built between 1864 and 1884. The monumental Calvary dates from 1934.
Above the Pont de Frappe, the Aqueduc des Gorges was recently renovated. In its original 18th-century section, the Chapelle de la Nativité de la Vierge preserves the choir and sacristy; its nave was added in the 19th or early 20th century.
