The hike to the Hameau de Creisset begins at the Passerelle du Creisset in Beynes. It is a difficult, signposted circular route covering 9.6 km, with 500 m of elevation gain and a duration of 3 hours 30 minutes. The trail leads to the ruins of a castle and an abandoned village that was still inhabited in the last century.

The “Pont romain – Chapelle Saint-André” route is a family outing. It crosses a Roman bridge and reaches the Chapelle Saint-André via a balcony trail. It passes through a wild and protected landscape in a less frequented section of the Gorges de Trévans.

The Boucle de Palus is a moderately difficult family hike covering 7.9 km, lasting 2 hours 30 minutes, and starting in Beynes. Beynes is also the starting point for several hiking trails, including one leading to the Église de Sainte-Madeleine et Saint-Etienne.

The surrounding area can also be explored by mountain bike on a designated route: “Les hameaux de Beynes” is a moderately difficult 15.5 km loop lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, with 443 m of ascent. The route leads from Mézel via Beynes toward Palus and returns along a trail above the Asse Valley.

Culture and History

The ruins of a fortified castle dating from the 12th century have been preserved in Beynes. Protestant troops retreated to this castle in 1591. The site of Beynes has been used since prehistoric times.

The village church of Beynes is built of pink dressed stone and roofed with Roman tiles. It stands at the highest point of the village and is built directly on the rock.
