Culture and History
The Château de la Reine Jeanne was built around 940 as an important defensive structure in a dominant position at the end of the plateau. The Aqueduc de Roquefavour carries water from the Canal de Marseille across the Arc through the municipalities of Ventabren and Aix to supply Marseille. In the municipality of Ventabren, the aqueduct is approximately 400 metres long and 83 metres high; it consists of three rows of arches with a total of 70 arches.
The current form of the Moulin de Ventabren dates from 1967. Inside is the pumping system supplying the reservoirs, which now supply the entire municipality of Ventabren.
In the old village of Ventabren, there is an interactive and playful treasure hunt using QR codes, with one route for children and one for adults.
The Musée Granet and the Cathédrale Saint Sauveur are located in the vicinity of Ventabren. The wider region around Ventabren also includes the Artothèque Istres-Ouest Provence, the Tour de guet de Calès viewpoint, and the peaks of La Tête d’Auguste, Le Petit Sanguin and Étoile.

The continuous village of Ventabren and its surroundings have been listed in the inventory of picturesque sites of the Bouches-du-Rhône département since 1971. The Ventabren area includes cultivated vineyards and terraces planted with olive trees.
Food and Drink
The Marché dominical de Ventabren takes place every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. on the Mail de l’Héritière at the Cours des Trèfles Blancs. Local food and other vendors offer their goods there, including beekeepers, gardeners, cheesemakers, a fishmonger, caterers, a baker, sellers of olives and dried fruit, and winegrowers.
