Culture and History

The Grotte dite de L'Escale was classified as a historic monument by decree of 10 March 1964. The Grotte de l’Escale is considered dangerous and is closed to access.

The Chapelle Saint Estève is a 12th-century chapel dedicated to Saint-Estève.

The open-air Théâtre de plein air is located in the Vallon de l’Escale between the Chaîne des Côtes and the Durance. It includes an amphitheatre with 300 seats as well as a stage equipped with artists’ dressing rooms, and provides a public space for relaxing, observing and strolling.

Nature

The foothills of Saint-Estève and de la Quille form a succession of gentle, low hills extending from the Saint-Christophe basin to the Plateau de la Trévaresse.

Cycling

The section of the “Vers la Durance à vélo” cycle route begins in Saint-Estève-Janson and connects the town with Meyrargues along the banks of the Durance. The cycle path can be reached from the centre of Saint-Estève-Janson via small municipal roads with little traffic.
