Culture
On the Château hill, now known as Place Lionel Hart, Rousset preserves the remains of a Roman fortification wall. Remains of the Via Aurelia have survived in the districts of Fontjane and Saint-Privat. The 11th-century Chapelle Saint-Privat bears witness to the medieval settlement of Rousset.
The dovecote in the town centre is a remnant of the Castrum, which dates from the 11th to the 14th century. Rousset's village church was built from 1861 onwards. The Chapelle du Calvaire dates from the 19th century and is privately owned; exhibitions and concerts are held there.
Access to the Médiathèque de Rousset and the borrowing of documents are free and open to everyone. The Médiathèque hosts photography and art exhibitions as well as writing workshops. The Salle Emilien Ventre can accommodate performances and various events of regional, national or international scope.
The Rousset en Fête programme includes recurring events throughout the year, such as Carnival, LA SAINT PRIVAT, a flea market, a Christmas market and Christmas lights. The Saint-Privat festivities last five days at the end of August and include a fairground, concerts, dancing every evening, a Sunday aioli and a traditional quadrille dance.
Food and Wine
The weekly market in Rousset takes place every Wednesday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Place Paul Borde. It features, among other things, local producers, honey and jewellery makers. The Cave de Rousset boutique sells a wide selection of local sweet and savoury foods.
The Cave de Rousset offers wine tastings and stocks wines from the Côtes de Provence and Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellations.
