Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône has been located within the Parc naturel régional de Camargue since February 2011. The landscape is shaped by salty seawater and the Rhône’s fresh water, laden with alluvial sediment, and includes freshwater canals as well as brackish lagoons.

Nature
The They du Mazet is a sand formation shaped by the sea and the river. Plage Napoléon is one of the largest beaches in the Camargue and has 10 kilometres of fine sand.
Culture and History
The Tour Saint Louis was built in 1737 and added to the inventory of Monuments historiques in 1942. The Tour Saint-Louis houses an ornithological collection with more than 165 birds on display; it also has a terrace with panoramic views. Nègo-Chin excursions depart from the Tour Saint Louis, lead to They du Pégoulier and last more than an hour.
The Cabane de gardian can be visited as a traditional house of the « gens du marais ». It displays everyday objects, tools, old furniture and animal sculptures. Visits to the Manade Carreton include a demonstration of cattle sorting. Local products are also available for tasting.

Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône is the endpoint of the 815-kilometre ViaRhôna, a cycle route that begins in Saint-Gingolph on the French-Swiss border. The beaches of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône offer ideal conditions for practising and learning kitesurfing. The Club Nautique Rhodanien offers an introduction to and the practice of Provençal water jousting and traditional rowing. The Base Nautique de Port Saint Louis offers sea kayaking.

Camargue Coquillages offers on-site sales in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône by appointment. Moule de Carteau is produced in the Anse de Carteau southwest of the town.
