Culture

The Église Sainte-Marguerite was built at the end of the 15th century. Its façade was remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries and extended with an onion dome. The church is protected as a Monument historique; it was listed on 21 September 1983. The Église Sainte-Marguerite also contains a panel painting depicting Saint Peter and Saint Paul, attributed to Louis Bréa. The church also houses a treasure of religious goldsmithery.

Experiences

Since 1998, the Circuit des Crèches has been organised in the village of Lucéram and in Peïra-Cava. It is open during the Christmas season in December and January.

Numerous families from the village of Lucéram create original nativity scenes for the Circuit des Crèches.

The Musée de la crèche displays more than 150 nativity scenes and Santon works, including an outstanding Neapolitan collector’s nativity scene. During the Circuit des Crèches, the museum is open daily; outside this period, visitors should contact the Maison de Pays. The Maison de Pays de Lucéram provides visitor information and offers audio-guided and guided tours.

Nature

Lucéram is the starting point for numerous hiking trails with routes of varying lengths, difficulty levels and elevation gains.

Peira Cava Aventures in Lucéram extends over more than two hectares and includes several courses, including the “Bambin” course, which is accessible from the age of two.

From Peïra-Cava, paths lead to an icefall behind the Granges du Lac, originating from a stream in the Vallon de St Colomban, as well as to naturally formed sandstone rocks on the ridge near the orientation table, offering an impressive view of the Mercantour range.

The Casernement de Peïra-Cava was built between 1883 and 1887 to accommodate 600 soldiers in every season.
