Culture and History
The Église Saint-Michel was restored and reopened on 7 March. The work included completely replacing the roof, installing a new roof structure and rebuilding the vault.
The church of Gignac-la-Nerthe is associated with an ex-voto painting signed by J. LE TELL and dated 22 July 1842. The painting is classified as a protected historic cultural object.
In the 13th century, the inhabitants gathered around the Templar chapel on the hill, which is clearly visible from the motorway.
The 7.2 km-long Tunnel du Rove was partly excavated beneath the village. Since 2000, it has carried the “patrimoine XXe siècle” label.
