Townscape and History
The Château of Charleval served as the ruler’s hunting lodge when the town was founded. The streets developed in front of it along the alignment specified by César de Cadenet. The Canal de Craponne also runs through Charleval; it was based on an irrigation agreement dating from 1568.

The hike “Les Limites de la Forêt Communale de Charleval” is fairly demanding, passes historic estates and offers beautiful views.
