Culture
The Notre Dame d’Afrique church was built in March 1966, before Carnoux became a municipality. Every year on 15 August, the Notre Dame d’Afrique pilgrimage takes place at Place Lyautey.
The Albert Camus media library contains a memorial area dedicated to Carnoux and North Africa. La Crémaillère is a former 18th-century bastide with a French garden and is part of the town’s cultural heritage.
The Carnoux market takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays at Esplanade Lyautey. The stalls offer food, regional products, flowers, clothing, fashion jewellery and decorative items.
The Centre Culturel de Carnoux offers group courses in languages, visual arts, music, dance, theatre and computer science. Nature
The botanical educational trail in Carnoux leads through the town’s green spaces and provides an opportunity to experience Mediterranean plant species. The educational trail is accessible to children and adults.
Parc Tony Garnier is a historic site with hundred-year-old trees. Parc Jean Chaland was inaugurated in 2011, is landscaped and equipped with furniture for children’s games and relaxation.
Geographical setting
The “Carnoux-en-Provence par les collines” route is 14 km long. From the heights of Carnoux, views extend across the Huveaune Valley to Marseille, as well as over the Bay of Cassis and Cap Canaille.
