Boulbon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Boulbon is situated on a rocky promontory of the Montagnette, overlooking the Rhône Valley. It is open to the public for self-guided visits; the footpath leading there passes through the lanes of the old village.

Culture

Free parking for the Château de Boulbon is available at Place Gilles Léontin; from there, it is about a ten-minute walk to the entrance. The Château de Boulbon is considered both a strategic fortress and a seigneurial residence.

The Chapelle Saint-Julien de Boulbon has been classified as a historic monument (Monument historique) since 1 October 1941. Its interior is closed; a visit can be requested by email or via the website form. The 12th-century Romanesque chapel is located on the road to Frigolet, north of the village, in the garrigue.

The Moulin Bonnet was built in 1776 and completely restored in 2002. From there, it offers a remarkable view of Boulbon and the alluvial plain. The Procession des bouteilles takes place every year on 1 June at the Chapelle Saint-Marcellin. The Porte Loriol is a surviving remnant of Boulbon’s former fortifications.

Hiking

The hiking route from the Abbaye de Saint-Michel de Frigolet points towards Boulbon with the signs “Boulbon 1 h” and “Boulbon 50 min” and then returns to Boulbon through the Vallon de Saint-Michel. The climb to the Moulin Bonnet is considered a hike in the Massif de la Montagnette.
