Utelle combines religious buildings, historical landmarks and distinctive landscapes. The Madone d’Utelle sanctuary was founded in 850. The Chapelle Sainte-Croix, also known as the Pénitents Blancs, is also a historical monument.

Culture

The Saint-Véran church is part of the history of the place: it was originally Romanesque, rebuilt in the 16th century and has a Romanesque bell tower, a Gothic portal and an altarpiece. In its external appearance, it is one of the oldest churches in the valley.

The Madone des Miracles is one of the three most important Marian sanctuaries of the former County of Nice. In the wider region around Utelle, there are also the Musée et Site Archéologiques de Nice-Cimiez museum, the Château de Valrose palace and the Musée de la Curiosité et de l'Insolite museum. The Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Paix de Castagniers monastery is also located in the area around Utelle.

Landscape

From the Madone d’Utelle sanctuary, views extend from the Alps to the Mediterranean. In the immediate vicinity of Utelle are the Suc de Cabagne peak and Mont Séréna mountain. The wider area also includes Mont Férion peak and Cime de l'Aution peak.

When staying in Utelle, you may wish to make renting a holiday apartment your priority.
