Touët-Sur-Var: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The upper part of Touët-sur-Var is a remarkable example of a village situated on a rocky outcrop.

Nature

The “Traversée Touët-sur-Var–Villars-sur-Var” hike begins at the car park on the RD 6202 in Touët-sur-Var, at an altitude of 340 metres. Several paths lead away from the ruins of the former castle in the upper village. The path from the railway station to the village passes small canals and a watermill.

Culture

The Haut-Village of Touët-sur-Var can be explored on a self-guided tour. The tour includes an information board, takes in the remains of a castle and leads to a viewpoint overlooking the Var Valley. The old village is known for its doors painted in the street-art style.

The Eglise Saint-Martin dates from the late 17th century and was built above a waterfall. Inside, there is a gilded wooden high altar and an altarpiece dating from 1649. The Romanesque Chapelle Saint-Martin in the lower village dates from the 11th or 12th century.

The town hall houses the permanent exhibition “REGARDS sur Touët-sur-Var”, featuring photographs and paintings. Touët-sur-Var town hall also houses an old oil mill with millstones and a press that is still operational.

The Galerie des Présidents displays a collection of portraits of all French heads of state, beginning with Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, that is unique in France. It is located in the town hall opposite the Belvédère des Présidents.
