Sainte-Agnès: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Fort de Sainte-Agnès was built from 1932 to 1938. As an underground facility, it was excavated deep into the rock beneath the village. Today, the fort is a museum open to the public that presents its military history.

History and Culture

The tower and foundations of Château de Sainte-Agnès date from the late 10th century. Notre-Dame-des-Neiges church was rebuilt in the new village in the 16th century and houses remarkable treasures.

Chapelle Saint-Sébastien was built in 1610. The inhabitants of Sainte-Agnès hoped it would help ward off the plague and other epidemics.

Nature and Trails

Sainte-Agnès is one of the municipalities in the Natura 2000 area Vallée du Carei - collines de Castillon. The viewpoint at Château de Sainte-Agnès overlooks Menton Bay, the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, offering a 360-degree panorama.

The Chemin de Sainte-Agnès connects the village to Menton via the Col de Garde and takes two hours in one direction.

In the immediate vicinity of Sainte-Agnès are Cime de Biançon, a summit, Pic de Baudon, a summit, and Mont Ours guet, a mountain.

The Musée des Beaux-Arts, a museum, and Plage de Buse, a beach, are also located near Sainte-Agnès. In the surrounding area are the Collection de Voitures Anciennes de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco, a museum, and the Monaco Top Cars Collection, a museum. In the wider regional area around Sainte-Agnès is the Area archeologica della città antica di Albintimilium, an archaeological site.

Events

Held annually at the end of July, the Fête de la Lavande brings the whole village together with numerous events, including a craft market and lavender distillation.

Organised by the Association des Randonneurs de Sainte-Agnès, the Critérium takes place every year on 1 May and provides an opportunity to discover these trails in a sociable atmosphere.
