Roquebillière: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Roquebillière is located at an altitude of 600 metres in the Vésubie Valley, at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park. The town’s thermal tradition dates back to Roman antiquity. In the hamlet of Berthemont-les-Bains, which belongs to the municipality, a thermal centre offers spa treatments and wellness facilities; the new centre replaced the former thermal baths in July 2016.

When planning a trip to Roquebillière, I would like to rent a holiday apartment; Berthemont-les-Bains is one of the places on my list.

Leisure

The Bassin biologique de Roquebillière is located below the village in a sports and leisure area. The 1,350 m² pool is cleaned using biofiltration, without chlorine or chemical treatment. It is the first biological pool in the département open for swimming and welcomes numerous visitors every summer.

There are cycling and mountain biking routes around Roquebillière. There are walking trails in Roquebillière and the surrounding area; topoguides for these are available at the information office. Culture

La Bourgade was Roquebillière’s former industrial district. It was home to a forge, oil and grain mills, a sawmill and the municipality’s first power station, all operated by a diversion canal from the Vésubie.

The Fort Maginot du Gordolon comprises three combat bunkers. The Fort de Gordolon forms part of the Maginot Line and can be visited on selected dates by reservation. The Église Saint-Michel-de-Gast was built at the beginning of the 16th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 22 November 1994.

The Galerie d'Arts vésubiens has been present in the village since 2010. It is run by an artists’ collective from the valley, offers changing exhibitions throughout the year and brings together around thirty artists with connections to the Vésubie Valley.

Local Life

Roquebillière’s Petit Marché Rural takes place from mid-March to mid-December on Tuesday mornings in the village square. Local craftspeople and producers from the valleys exhibit there throughout the morning.

Line 94 operates towards Roquebillière and the thermal centre of Berthemont-les-Bains exclusively during the thermal centre’s opening period.
