Péone: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Les Aiguilles next to the old village of Péone, rock formations made of Triassic dolomite and visible remains of fortifications probably dating from the 13th century belonging to the former Château de Péone have been preserved.

Nature and Landscape
A large part of the municipality of Péone lies within the core zone of Mercantour National Park. Tête de Méric, a subsidiary peak of Mercantour above the village of Péone, offers views of the towers of Lac d’Allos, the peaks of the Vallée des Merveilles, the Val d’Entraunes and the Gorges du Daluis.
The Circuit de Septenne passes through numerous alpine meadows and barns that bear traces of the formerly intensive agro-pastoral activity.
Hikes and Trails
The Sentier du Patrimoine in Péone is a very easy 0.5 km circular hike with 28 m of elevation gain and a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The loop begins and ends at the Pont de Péone and is equipped with its own signage and several information panels.
A hike from Péone through the Tuébi Valley leads to two blockhouses and the cross at Col de Crous at an altitude of 2,202 m. The strategic location of the facility there is associated with the Maginot Line.
Culture and Townscape
The Baroque Church of Saint-Vincent et Saint-Arige in Péone dates from 1761 and has been listed in the French inventory of historic monuments since 1948.
The half-timbered façades of Péone are considered a special feature and are exceptional among the built-up settlements of the Alpes-Maritimes department. The Pigeonnier-rucher is a circular tower built entirely of local pink earthen plaster; according to the date above the entrance, it dates back at least to 1679.
The former Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs in Péone is a deconsecrated chapel that has been converted into a venue for temporary exhibitions and conferences.
The ruins of Péone Castle are difficult to access; for safety reasons, it is recommended to remain on the marked path.
Local Traditions
The Saint-Vincent patronal festival takes place every year on the last weekend of August and includes a week of festivities centred around local traditions. The event programme includes a tasting of Agnocous, a typical dish.
