In the centre of Opio, the Moulin d’Opio continues to produce olive oil. The mill dates back to the 15th century and is one of the oldest olive mills in Provence. It processes olives from Opio; seven generations have succeeded one another there since the mid-18th century.
The Romanesque Church of Saint-Trophime in Opio houses medieval baptismal fonts and a 17th-century altarpiece.
Held annually, the Fête de la Rose has preserved the Provençal rose-growing tradition for more than 20 years.
Those who choose Opio for their stay may want to rent a holiday apartment.
Nature
Opio lies between the sea and the mountains in a wooded landscape in the central hinterland.
The easy hike “La boucle du Parc de Loisirs” begins at the car park of the Parc de Loisirs d’Opio and leads through the Bois d’Opio. It runs alongside olive groves and offers unobstructed views of the surrounding hills and mountains.
The “Balade du Siaresq” leads through an oak forest, between dry-stone walls and over a small bridge.
Leisure
The Parc de Loisirs d’Opio has a fitness trail, a multisport court, play areas and an amphitheatre.
Golf d’Opio Valbonne is an 18-hole golf course set in a 220-hectare protected area. The hilly terrain is shaded by century-old trees and includes a Gallo-Roman aqueduct.
Food and Drink
The Domaine de La Giraudière offers tours and olive oil tastings.
