Magagnosc: Holiday Apartments and Houses
The Église Saint-Laurent-de-Magagnosc was listed as a historic monument by decree of 24 September 1968. Magagnosc is first mentioned in written records dating from 1155 and was a fortified settlement referred to in the mid-12th century.
Culture
The Villa d’Andon estate in the Magagnosc district was built during Grasse’s economic boom in the 18th century, which was linked to the rise of the perfume industry. The gardens of Villa d’Andon were probably laid out around 1770. The garden of Villa d’Andon, with its walls, ornamental structures, fountains and hydraulic installations, was classified as a historic monument by decree of 12 October 1995.

Landscape
Olive cultivation shaped the landscape of Magagnosc for a long time through its many cultivated terraces. In the 19th century, violet cultivation expanded significantly in Magagnosc, partly thanks to irrigation.
Townscape
Magagnosc consists of several districts extending on either side of two former east-west connecting routes. The small districts comprise a few residential buildings that were probably associated with agricultural activity.
Flowers and Perfume
Violet flowers from Magagnosc were used in bouquets and confectionery production; the leaves of the violets grown there were used in the perfume factories of Grasse.
Discoveries
The Maison du Patrimoine in Grasse offers a programme entitled “Laissez-vous conter Magagnosc”. An official walking route leads to the 17th-century Chapelle des Roumégons.
