Nature and Trails
The Circuit de l’Adrech starts in La Roquette-sur-Var. It is an easy hike of approximately 2.5 km with a stated total duration of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Circuit de la Roquette leads into the village and takes in its small squares, recently restored church, and an impressive viewpoint over the Var Valley. It also passes numerous olive groves; its descent follows a path along the crest of a broad, barren ridge made of alluvial puddingstone.
Since 2009, the remarkable Portalet site has featured three orientation panels to help visitors and hikers discover the surrounding panoramas. The Canal de la Vésubie crosses La Roquette-sur-Var for approximately 2,670 metres.
Culture and Architecture
The Notre-Dame-del-Bosc Chapel contains frescoes dating from 1526, attributed to Andrea de Cella. Pierre de Belletruche financed the chapel’s decoration. Part of the compensation received by the residents of La Roquette was used to partially restore the old Notre-Dame-del-Bosc Chapel.
The Siphon de Saint-Blaise is a remarkable technical structure belonging to the Canal de la Vésubie and extends across several municipalities, including La Roquette-sur-Var.
History
The first settlement of La Roquette-sur-Var, Castel Vieil, probably housed a Ligurian community and was later inhabited during Roman times and the Middle Ages.
