Nature

The Gorges de Daluis Regional Nature Reserve covers more than 1,000 hectares across the municipalities of Guillaumes and Daluis. The Gorges de Daluis were carved out by the Var River in Permian pelites; their red rocks and gorges are home to an exceptional range of wildlife and plant life.

At the Maison des Gorges, a permanent exhibition presents the diversity of the natural habitats of the red Gorges de Daluis, as well as the wildlife and plant life of the nature reserve.

Culture and Traditions

In Guillaumes’ medieval town centre, the Musée des Arts et Traditions traces the everyday life of people in the century before last. Its collection includes more than 6,000 objects donated by 130 families from Guillaumes and the surrounding area.

The Church of Saint-Etienne is also part of the town’s history: it was first mentioned in writing in 1305, while its construction is dated to around 1240. The Château de la Reine Jeanne can be freely viewed from the outside.

Guillaumes’ fairs have existed for centuries and today promote short supply chains and local producers. The Transhumance Festival is also held; alongside the traditional fairs and Guillaumes’ flea market, it celebrates the movement of sheep to their summer pastures.

Paths and Routes

The Balcons des Gorges de Daluis circular trail passes over the Pont de la Mariée and the Pont des Roberts before returning to Guillaumes. A gorge and canyon hike begins in Guillaumes in the area of the Cascade d’Amen, at an altitude of 820 m.

The route to the Col de Valberg also begins in Guillaumes. It leads via the hamlet of Saint-Brès to the Valberg resort.
