Culture and history
The Chapelle de la Trinité has long been a pilgrimage site for the surrounding communities, but is currently not open to the public. It is occasionally possible to visit during the neighbourhood festival of the Clermont district in September.
The church in Châteauneuf-Grasse has a tall square bell tower that was rebuilt in 1826. The Musée de San Bastian displays everyday objects from the past, traditional Provençal costumes and photographs of Châteauneuf. The main room illustrates the region’s agricultural past and perfume industry through presses, a distillation apparatus, enfleurage frames and perfume bottles.
The “Chemin poétique” offers a unique way to discover the village: while walking through the lanes, visitors can discover more than twenty poems.
Springs and landscape
The springs of the Brague feed the recently restored washhouse at La Grande Fontaine. There are also two livestock troughs and a basin that was formerly used for washing grain and wool. La Grande Fontaine is shaded by centuries-old plane trees.
The orientation table of Châteauneuf-Grasse stands at the end of Rue de Bellevue and helps visitors identify nearby ridges and scattered villages. From there, there is a panorama over wooded hills and valleys, from Montagne de Cheiron to Pic de l’Ours.
Trails
The municipality of Châteauneuf-Grasse offers five hiking routes for discovering the municipality’s historical and natural heritage. The “La rivière Saint Jean” route passes chapels, churches and washhouses. It begins at Châteauneuf Town Hall and follows the Saint Jean River between Châteauneuf and Magagnosc. The “La chapelle du Brusc” circular route passes a washhouse.
Events
The town council has organised “Les Nuits du Brusc” at the beginning of summer for more than 30 years. The programme comprises four varied evenings featuring classical music, rock, theatre and comedy.
