Culture and History
In the village of Beuil stands the Eglise Notre Dame du Rosaire, built in 1687 and restored in 1999. The Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs was built in 1630 on the site of an earlier chapel. Its façade is entirely decorated with pseudo-Baroque trompe-l’œil painting created by Guy Ceppa in 1984.
The Sentier historique is a marked themed trail from the Beuil tourist office to the orientation table on the Pré de Foire hill and includes twelve historical information panels. The booklet “Sentier de l’Histoire” also leads around the village of Beuil and presents the municipality’s various historical events.
The Chapelle Saint Jean-Baptiste, also known as Saint Jean du désert, is associated with a pilgrimage at the end of June. Masses are celebrated there in winter; access to these services is by snowshoes. Regular exhibitions by local artists are held at the Galerie d’art de Beuil.
Activities
The Beuil-Les Launes Nordic area offers 25 kilometres of cross-country ski trails on five routes for all levels of difficulty. The Cumba Clava cross-country ski loop leads through a larch forest to a remote, very sunny clearing.
The Quartier du Charrier is home to a natural climbing site with routes graded from 3 to 6. Beuil-les-Launes is also a stage on the tour through the red gorges of Cians and Daluis.
