Andon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Andon is surrounded by forests, mountains and vast high plateaus. The Réserve Biologique des Monts d’Azur, a 700-hectare nature reserve for wildlife in Thorenc in the Alpes-Maritimes département, is home to European bison and Przewalski’s horses, which can be observed there. The reserve offers guided safaris on foot, by carriage, on snowshoes and by sled.

From the site of the Castellaras, there is a view of the Andon plain and the varied landscape of the Haut Pays. In summer, you can go hiking on Andon’s vast high plateaus.

Hiking and Cycling

The La Moulière–L’Audibergue Route No. 27 is an 8.5-kilometre circular route starting at La Moulière. After the ascent, the route offers beautiful views of the mountain ridges.

The path to the ruins of the Castellaras is a very easy 2.5-kilometre return hike starting from the car park at Col du Castellaras in Andon. La Moulière is known for its mountain biking trails, which are often designed for experienced riders; hiking and trail activities are also available there.

The L’Audibergue ski resort offers alpine skiing and cross-country skiing.

History and Local Life

The Castellaras de Thorenc in Andon is an archaeological site and a fortified medieval castle. Its main construction phases date from the 13th and 14th centuries.

The Saint-Hubert Chapel in the centre of Canaux is associated with the blessing of animals during the Saint-Hubert celebration.

The Ferme de l’Escaillon in Thorenc, within the municipality of Andon, can be visited and operates exclusively through direct sales.
