Selonnet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Selonnet combines signposted trails, protected nature and a range of historic sites with the activities at the Chabanon resort. A signposted 6-km circular trail starting at Selonnet Town Hall leads to La Grosse Pierre, a geological feature weighing more than 500 tonnes, standing 5 metres high and measuring 30 metres in circumference. It is one of the eight sites of the Géoparc du Pays de Seyne.

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Selonnet can plan their stay specifically in this village.

Culture

The village is home to the Tour Lesdiguières: the surviving remains of the destroyed château of the Connétable de Lesdiguières now serve as the bell tower of Selonnet church. The Tour Lesdiguières has been listed as a Monument historique since 9 November 1984.

The local religious architecture includes the Chapelle de Notre Dame des Champs. It was built in 1902 by the residents of the hamlet of Champsaurs and restored in 2004.

The wider region is also home to historic buildings: the Château de Picomtal and the Château de Tallard are castles, while the Abbaye de Boscodon is classified as a church. The Fort de Dormillouse, a fort, is also located near Selonnet.

Nature

Selonnet is home to a Natura 2000 site with several sensitive areas. The purpose of this site is to preserve biodiversity. The immediate surroundings of Selonnet are complemented by the summit of Le Château. The nearby peaks also include Sommet de Tête Grosse, La Montagne and Clot de Bouc.

Another trail, Trail No. 12, “Tour de Tête Grosse”, passes through the Massif des Monges. The moderately difficult circular route starts at Place de la Rotonde, is 15.7 km long and includes 650 m of ascent and descent. Its maximum elevation is 1,892 m; it passes through pastures and blueberry fields and offers views of the Blanche range.

Activities

The VTT No. 11 mountain-bike route, “Les balcons de Chabanon”, starts at the Chabanon resort. It is a family-friendly route along easy trails. It heads towards the Monges chairlift and continues to the Fontaine de Lacasse in Chabanon’s fir forest, offering panoramic views of the Blanche valley.

The Chabanon-Selonnet resort has a heated outdoor swimming pool in a natural, wooded setting. Below the Piscine de Chabanon-Selonnet is a forest mini-golf course with 12 holes.

In winter, the Chabanon-Selonnet resort has 3 km of ski slopes illuminated at night. From the resort, signposted snowshoe trails lead towards the Domaine de pleine nature du Fanget. Dog-sled rides through a fir forest also start at the Chabanon ski resort.
