Townscape
The village of Sausses lies on the very steep slopes of a spur between the Riou and Saint-Pons valleys. The castle occupies the summit of this spur, while the village has a fan-shaped layout facing west and south. Some of the stairway passages in Sausses are covered by buildings. The winding lanes make it possible to discover hidden corners and small squares and admire the pink-orange façades of most of the houses.

Culture and History
The castle in Sausses is a large building with a square floor plan, several storeys, and painted façade decorations. The Church of Saint-Pons has a three-bay nave, an apse of the same width but lower in height, a bell tower at the southeast corner, and a sacristy built onto the east wall of the apse. The Church of Saint-Pons was extended in 1807 and converted into a parish church.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame stands partly on the site of the former parish church of Sausses, which was abandoned after the construction of the present Church of Saint-Pons in 1807. The Chapelle Notre-Dame is a small single-nave chapel with a groin vault.
Hiking and Landscape
The Les Selves hike begins at the cemetery of Sausses, passes through a pine forest after a short steep climb, ascends 250 metres in elevation, and then reaches the Selves canal and the small Gourre valley. The Les Selves route, designed as an out-and-back trail, connects Sausses and Castellet-lès-Sausses.
In the immediate vicinity of Sausses are Cime du Content, a summit, Mourre Froid, a mountain, as well as La Lette and Tête de Travers, both summits.

The cathedral church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption d'Entrevaux is located in the surroundings of Sausses. The wider region around Sausses also includes Fort de Savoie, a fortress, and Mercantour National Park, a park.
