Culture and History
The ruins of the Chapelle Saint-Pierre have been listed as a Monument historique since 11 July 1984.
The Church of the Holy Sacrament has Romanesque origins and was expanded over the centuries. It was rebuilt in the 19th century; older elements have been preserved, including a three-bay nave and a flat-ended choir. Its capitals are decorated with foliage, while the choir is Gothic and dates from the 14th or late 15th century. Concerts have also been held there.
Archaeological excavations in Pierrerue uncovered settlement structures and a grave containing the skeleton of the “Homme de la Fare”. The medieval castle ruins of Pierrerue include an underground room built of dressed stone.
The Chapelle Saint-Pierre-de-Viviers was formerly a priory dependent on Ganagobie Abbey. In the hamlet of Saint-Pierre, the small Romanesque Chapelle Saint-Pierre-de-Viviers, with a green meadow and two lime trees, invites visitors to take a break.
Landscape
The Pont de la Lèche is associated with the former imperial road from Avignon to Grenoble; its existence has been documented since 1528. The hiking trail leading there passes through agricultural landscapes, follows the Chemin de Compostelle, and offers beautiful views of Lure Mountain and the village of Lurs.
Trails
The Chemin des hameaux is a yellow-marked hiking trail taking 2 hours, covering 7 km, with an elevation gain of 215 m. It starts at the cemetery of Pierrerue.
The Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle et de Rome runs between Forcalquier and Lurs through Pierrerue.
