Mison: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The hilltop village of Mison is dominated by the remains of a once very imposing château. The Château de Mison was built as a fortress by the Mévouillon family in the 13th century and is arranged around a central courtyard, with four wings flanked by square towers. It has been undergoing restoration since 2005.

Culture

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Baume church is believed to date from the 14th century and was rebuilt in 1602. Its nave has a barrel vault and is completely surrounded by a gallery. At the entrance to the hamlet of Les Armands in Mison is a former 18th-century post and stagecoach relay station, with two opposing gates for the passage of stagecoaches.

The Sainte-Baume Chapel in Mison was closed until municipal works were carried out because of a high risk to the public. Around Mison are the Citadelle de Sisteron, a fortress, and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-des-Pommiers de Sisteron, a church. In the wider region around Mison are the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Lure, a historic site, and the Château de Tallard, a château.

Nature

A path leads around Lac de Mison-Upaix and makes use of the facilities around the protected, sensitive natural area. Lac de Mison-Upaix is visited by anglers as well as people interested in nature and photography.

The Sommet de la Platte peak is located in the immediate vicinity of Mison. The surrounding area also includes the Roc de Gloritte mountain, the Les Espranons peak and the Roc de l'Aigle peak.

Trails

The “Autour du lac de Mison à vélo” cycling route begins at the foot of the Château de Mison and follows the D124 and D324 to Lac de Mison, a departmental sensitive natural area offering views of alpine peaks. The short family route “Tour du Château de Mison” allows visitors to discover the Château de Mison and the village overlooked by it.
