Manosque: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The historic old town of Manosque changed very little from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution. The Porte de la Saunerie acquired its present form at the end of the 14th century and was used to store salt. Preserved remains of the Porte du Soubeyran date from the 14th century; the gate was first mentioned in the archives in 1216.

Culture and History

The Église Notre-Dame-de-Romigier was classified as a French historic monument by decree of 10 October 1980. Its main construction phases date back to the 13th, 14th, 17th and 19th centuries.

The first references to the Église Saint-Sauveur date back to the end of the 12th century. In 1372, it was consecrated by the Bishop of Sisteron, Ranulphe de Gorse. The church combines a unique mixture of architectural styles and periods.

The Centre Jean Giono is housed in an 18th-century Provençal mansion built outside the walls of the old town. It is a cultural centre opened in 1992 and dedicated to Jean Giono and his work.

Nature

The La Thomassine conservation garden comprises around 400 varieties of fruit trees. At O'Vannades, there is an educational trail created by the CPIE, with information panels on aquatic ecology, fauna, flora and biodiversity. The Sentier découverte des Vannades is a 2.5-kilometre themed trail that takes around one hour to complete and features eight information panels on aquatic ecology.

Trails and Landscapes

The Toutes Aures hill offers views of the surrounding hills, Mont d'Or and the village of Pierrevert. The GR 4 runs close to the chapel on this hill. The Circuit des fontaines de Manosque leads to 21 fountains; the 21st and final fountain is located at the church portal on Rue Voland.
