Mallefougasse-Augès: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The parish church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste preserves a chancel from the earliest Romanesque period with a cul-de-four vault.

The clubhouse of Au Pied Du Mur opens one Sunday morning per month so that the historical treasures of Mallefougasse and Montlaux can be (re)discovered.

Events

At the Fête du pain on 17 May 2025 from 9 a.m., bread and pizza baked in the medieval oven were sold. The same event also included a small market of local producers; participants could also bake or reheat their own food in the oven and take part in a communal meal in the village square.

At Mallefougasse’s washhouse, the contemporary dance performance „Les lavandières“ was scheduled for a Thursday, 6 August, at 8 p.m. Events for Heritage Day were scheduled for Mallefougasse-Augès on 16 September 2023 and 21 September 2024.

Nature

In 2018, around 1,900 hectares of natural and semi-natural areas were recorded within Mallefougasse’s 1,971-hectare territory, including forests, garrigue, meadows and certain heterogeneous agricultural areas.

The „Bas col et chapelle d’Augès“ hike leads to Bas Col and onward to the Chapelle d’Augès; on the return journey, it offers views of the village of Mallefougasse and the Montagne de Lure.

Getting Around

From Mallefougasse, there are numerous hiking and cycling routes through the Montagne de Lure.

The difficult Montagne de Lure cycling loop, Parcours vélo no. 5, is 86.3 km long, takes around five hours, includes 1,710 m of ascent and 1,710 m of descent, and passes through Mallefougasse-Augès.
