Nature
At the Parc forestier du Brusquet, walks and discoveries combine with numerous species and large specimens. The forest trail runs through the Parc forestier du Brusquet and brings the geological heritage, particularly the so-called “slump-balls”, to life. It starts at the car park at Place du 8 mai 1945. The Parc forestier du Brusquet is also associated with the history of restoring mountain soils, which served to combat erosion.
Geographical Setting
Crête de la Blache is a summit in the vicinity of Le Brusquet. The summits La Pinée, La Grande Colle and Sommet de Cucuyon are located around Le Brusquet.
Culture
Notre-Dame de Lauzière was probably built in the Romanesque style in the 12th century and has a gilded Baroque high altar. The Eglise Saint-Maurice is a listed building dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. The Chapelle Saint-Michel de Cousson is a church in the vicinity of Le Brusquet. In the wider regional surroundings of Le Brusquet are Fort de Savoie, Fort de Dormillouse and the Citadelle de Sisteron; all three are forts.
Activities
The VTT n°3 – La maison forestière mountain bike route starts at the rest area and follows a path to the forester’s house. The route passes through black soils; 60 percent of the route runs predominantly along enjoyable single tracks. The hiking section of the ASLB organizes a hike around Le Brusquet or Digne-les-Bains one Saturday per month.
