La Condamine-Châtelard: Holiday Apartments and Houses
La Condamine-Châtelard lies at the confluence of the Ubaye and the Parpaillon mountain stream. The southern access to the Parpaillon Valley from La Condamine-Châtelard climbs around 1,400 metres in elevation over 18 kilometres, leading from larch forests to alpine meadows, rocks and large scree slopes in an uninhabited high-mountain landscape.

Geographical setting
The Parpaillon Tunnel is freely accessible, but it is not open all year round. Weather conditions and closure dates affect access from La Condamine-Châtelard; during closures, motorised vehicles are not permitted to use the access road.
Culture and history
Fort de Tournoux was built between 1843 and 1865 to secure access to the Col de Larche, and was expanded in 1880 by the Batterie des Caurres. The 19th-century military fortress stands on a rocky promontory between La Condamine-Châtelard and Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye and extends over almost 700 metres of elevation. The Fort de Tournoux complex has been listed as a historic monument since 28 June 2016.
The Batterie des Caurres area of Fort de Tournoux can be visited during the regular visiting season from May to September exclusively on a guided tour and by prior appointment. Below Fort de Tournoux is the Espace culturel Pellegrin, housed in the last surviving military building from the early 20th century. It hosts exhibitions, live events, film screenings, conferences and debates.
Trails and landscape
The Les Métairies hiking loop starts in La Condamine, passes through Le Châtelard and Mareilles, and goes by the Métairies du Serre, du Grach Haut, du Grach Bas and de la Chapelue. It crosses a landscape shaped by generations of farmers who lived in large, remote farmsteads.
The Tour du Grand Bérard route overlooks mineral-rich mountain valleys that contrast with the alpine meadows used by transhumant livestock. The Tour des Chapelles is a circular route starting from Le Châtelard in La Condamine-Châtelard and connecting four chapels and remote farms; some of these farms have been abandoned.
Winter sports
At an altitude of 1,800 to 2,400 metres, the Sainte-Anne ski resort has 35 kilometres of pistes, 13 runs and six ski lifts.
