Thuré: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de la Massardière is a protected estate classified as a historic monument, with distinctive openings. It was built on the slopes of a small hill and consisted of a rectangular main building and two side wings forming a U-shaped layout.

Culture and History

The Château de la Barbelinière is a manor house dating from the late 15th century that was restored in the 20th century. It is set in a park and can be reached via a wide avenue lined with plane trees.

At the Château de La Merveillère, guided outdoor tours of the grounds and one of the rooms in the house are offered by prior reservation; family archives may also be presented.

The Église Saint-Pierre de Thuré can be visited as part of a self-guided tour. It has a recently restored Romanesque tuff-stone apse with three semicircular openings; the capitals are decorated with corbels depicting human or monstrous heads.

Nature and Trails

The “De Porche en Porche – Circuit n°51” circular trail runs through the forests of Barbelinière and through a tuff-stone landscape in the municipality of Thuré. It offers a viewpoint over Châtellerault and the Vienne Valley and leads to the arched gateways, the church, and a discovery farm.

Parc Aven’Thuré is an adventure park in the forest of Thuré and has two courses for children.

In the vicinity of Thuré is the Artothèque de Grand Châtellerault Maison Descartes École d'Arts Plastiques – Centre d'art contemporain museum. The Château de Mondion and the Château de Marmande are also nearby.

Further afield in the Thuré region are the ruins of the Château de Bonnivet and the Gyrotour viewpoint.
