Circular route 41A, “La ligne de démarcation”, in Tercé is an easy 14.70 km route with a stated walking time of 3 hours and 30 minutes. It starts at the car park at 4 Route de Chauvigny.

The four routes form a 500 km interdepartmental Saint Martin loop in central France, which can be walked in both directions over a weekend, one week, or up to 15 days.

Landscape and Stone

At the roundabout on the outskirts of Tercé on the road to Saint-Julien-l’Ars, a viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the Carrières de Normandoux and seven information panels. The limestone quarried in Tercé was formed in the Middle Jurassic period around 165 million years ago. This quarry site presents the development of building-stone extraction for structures throughout France since 1854.

History and Culture

The Manoir de la Thibaudière in Tercé is a manor house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with a 17th-century dovecote and a portal dating from 1702. In 1996, it was included in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The gardens, dovecote, and ground floor can be visited as part of a self-guided tour.

Opening Hours

The Musée de la Vienne dans la Seconde Guerre Mondiale is open from 1 April until the weekend after 11 November, Tuesday to Sunday, from 3 to 6 p.m. Admission for self-guided visits is free; groups can visit the museum year-round by appointment.

The association responsible for this museum, VAPRVM, regularly creates exhibitions on the subject of the Second World War and lends them free of charge to local authorities and other associations with corresponding projects.
