At the highest point of the valley stands the Moulin cavier de Chouppes, a historic post mill from the 18th century and a typical historical feature of the Mirebalais region. The restored miller's house is freely open to the public; an almost complete milling system has been preserved in the milling room.
The Chapelle de Marçay originated as a priory and is the only surviving testimony to this rich past. The Église Saint-Saturnin has a bell tower dating from the 12th century, whose lower section rests on a dome. Its 12th-century apse has a semi-dome vault, known as a cul-de-four. The church's furnishings also include items classified as historic monuments, including the choir stalls and a painting of the Assumption of Mary.
Nature
The Plaines du Mirebalais et du Neuvillois Natura 2000 protected area safeguards wild birds and their habitats across 88 % of the municipal area of Chouppes; the area covers a total of 37,456 ha. The Plaine de Mirebeau is one of the ecologically valuable areas of Chouppes designated as a ZNIEFF Type 1. The Plaines du Mirebalais et du Neuvillois are also designated as a ZNIEFF Type 2 and cover 87.5 % of the municipal area of Chouppes.
Hiking and Birdwatching
The Les Oiseaux de la Plaine Mirebalaise route is an easy, 8.7 km circular hike. It takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and starts and ends in Chouppes. More than 30 bird species have been recorded along the route.
Exploring by Bicycle
A stop in Chouppes is recommended on the Au Pays Mirebalais cycle path. Chouppes also features a 16th-century dovecote, which is listed as a noteworthy stop.
