Pindray: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Pindray is one of the six wildlife observation sites provided by the Communauté de communes Vienne et Gartempe in a range of different habitats. At the Grandes-Brandes-du-Greffe site, heather and gorse cover a total of 223 hectares.

Culture and history

From the end of the 12th century until the French Revolution, the Domaine de Graillé was dependent on the Cistercian Abbey of l’Étoile in Archigny. The Chapelle de Graillé is one of the rare examples of Gothic architecture in this area and preserves a cornice supported by distinctive modillions.

The site of the Château de Pruniers has been used since Gallo-Roman times. The present building was constructed in three phases between the 12th and 15th centuries and was listed as a Monument historique in 1973.

The Église Saint-Pardoux, a former priory and parish church, was dependent on Lesterps Abbey. It has Romanesque origins and is located not far from the Gartempe.

Nature and trails

GPX and KML files are available for the Le Gardour / Boucle 8 route for export to a navigation device. The Les Brandes de Pindray hike offers beautiful views from the small village of Pindray; the landscape includes wooded slopes.

The Asinerie des Grandes Z’Oreilles in Pindray offers guided visits during which Alice and Nicolas share their expertise in donkey breeding and soap making.
