Culture
The Church of Saint Martin appears in archival documents dating from around 1090. It was extended in the 15th century; in particular, the choir was completely rebuilt. The nave probably dates from the late 11th or early 12th century.
On the banks of the Vienne, on the left bank of the river, a tower of the feudal castle of Availles-Limouzine has been preserved. Two surviving town gates stand at the two ends of Rue des Cavaliers. The house at 15, rue du Château also preserves a remarkable detail: a door with a curved lintel and a relief-carved coat of arms without heraldic decoration.
Activities
The Chemin d'OC et d'Oïl, circular route no. 13, is a very easy 2-km walking loop starting from the centre of Availles-Limouzine. “Tèrra Aventura: À Vienne que pourra!” is a free treasure hunt in Availles-Limouzine. The fishing course in Availles-Limouzine enables Bolognaise, English, feeder and pole fishing.
Nature
Au Paradis des fleurs et des oiseaux is a 3,000 m² botanical garden with more than 1,300 plant varieties.
Cycling
The section of the Scandibérique through the Vienne département is just over 115 km long, crosses 21 municipalities and runs from Dangé-Saint-Romain to Availles-Limouzine along the Vienne Valley. On the section of the Scandibérique from Lussac-les-Châteaux to Confolens, the route to Availles-Limouzine follows small, idyllic roads with little traffic.
