Villefagnan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The windmill “Moulin à vent des « Pierres Blanches »” was restored in 2000 and is the only windmill in the Charente département with “sails”. During a half-hour guided tour, the miller explains how it works.

Culture and history

The Logis des Tours was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. A surrounding enclosure, the residential building, the entrance portal and the towers have been preserved. The two old towers, the entrance portal and the enclosing wall adjoining them on both sides have been listed as historic monuments since 1951.

The Conservatoire des Arts et Traditions Populaires presents rural life around 1900 through a recreation of a Charente interior. The Temple protestant de Villefagnan was built in 1875 and inaugurated on 17 October 1875. Including its interior furnishings, it is listed in its entirety as a historic monument by a decree dated 26 October 1998.

Nature

The municipality of Villefagnan is included in a Natura 2000 site.

The Sentier de la Ferté offers panoramic views over the municipality of Villefagnan and is a 5.84-kilometre circular route marked in yellow.

The Circuit de Bois Breuillac passes through the Bois Breuillac. The adjacent agricultural land in the lower area along the Circuit de Bois Breuillac retains moisture that is favourable to the highly endangered snake’s-head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris).

Local life

The Halle aux Grains hosts a food market on Tuesday mornings.
