Passirac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Passirac is heavily forested and hilly, and lies on the northern edge of the Forêt de la Double. Oak, chestnut and, above all, maritime pine are the main tree species in Passirac’s woodland. The Sentier des Espaces verts hiking trail begins at the car park of Passirac town hall.

Nature

Passirac’s natural habitats are designated as Sites of Community Importance under Natura 2000, partly because of threatened and sensitive species such as the European pond turtle, otter, European mink, greater mouse-eared bat and brook lamprey.

The protected landscape areas include the type 2 ZNIEFF sites “Vallée du Né et ses affluents” and “Vallées du Palais et du Lary”. Together, they cover 4.3 % of Passirac’s municipal area.

Culture

The Église Saint-Pierre is a Romanesque building dating from the 11th and 12th centuries and has been listed as a French historic monument since 5 December 1991. The church interior is open daily.

The Chez Colardeau dovecote, an element of the local heritage, can be seen along the hiking trail through Passirac. The 19th-century Château du Châtelard is also located along the trail and can be seen there.

The Église Saint-Nicolas-de-Peudry is located in the vicinity of Passirac. Further afield in the region is the Église Saint-Mathias de Barbezieux.
