The “Vallée de la Charente” Natura 2000 site serves year-round as a resting place for 37 bird species of community interest.

Things to do

The Prairie de Goué interpretation trail is 4.2 km long and starts at the Campingplatz du Champion campsite. It follows the Charente River; the Charente can be crossed by chain ferry.

The “Balade Nature et Patrimoine” is a marked circular trail suitable for beginners, hikers and families. It passes through shaded areas and ends at the fuchsia collection in the flower park.

Cycle route no. 34 B is a 26 km discovery route along the Charente. The “Sentier des fontaines” offers a panorama of the Charente Valley at the “grandes combes de Puychenin”.

There is a canoeing and kayaking centre at the “Champion” site; canoeing and kayaking are available on the river.

Culture

The Church of Saint-Léger in Mansle houses the painting “La Résurrection de la fille de Jaïre”, which is classified as a historic monument. The church also has a portal featuring one of the rare examples of Gothic capitals decorated with figurative designs.

During a tour of Mansle-les-Fontaines, visitors can discover around ten fountains.

Other attractions

The Piscine de la Doue has a 25 m-long pool approved for competitions.
