Culture and History

The parish church of Fouquebrune is dedicated to Saint Maurice, Saint-Maurice. During the Hundred Years' War, the church was rebuilt and fortified to serve as a refuge for the population when no nearby château fort was available.

The chapel of the former Notre-Dame-de-l'Houme church dates from the late 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1926.

Nature

The Plaine de Fouquebrune is an open plain shaped by cereal cultivation and home to the main species found in the region's open plains. Trails

Several routes start in Fouquebrune: the Bois et Sentiers circular hiking trail begins here, as does the Circuit des Étangs circular trail. The Circuit des Étangs is an easy walk of around two hours.

The Puy de Courolle route leads along a public path that was reopened in 2001 into one of the few wooded areas in the municipality of Fouquebrune. Along the Route des Templiers, the remains of an iron-bearing dolmen can be seen near the Combe Catin.

Local Life

The Ferme des Templiers runs a farm shop on Fridays. The organic farm produces Gascon-type black pigs, Solognote lambs, as well as flour and bread made from its own grain. On Friday evenings, the Ferme des Templiers offers pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven for takeaway or to eat on site.
